Sunlit Snake
A black rat snake, taken on a softball field in Columbia, Maryland, in 2006. They're a common non-venomous species that preys on rats and mice. The scientific name for this snake could be Elaphe obsoleta obsoleta, Pantherophis obsoletus, or Pantherophis alleghaniensis, depending on who you ask.
